I adore summer bucket lists. It makes for a great dinner conversation , followed by a fun family activity making the lists. I usually have everyone write down their top 10 things to do, make or create ( 10 seems to be plenty!) and then we will do some sharing. Usually we have some outrageous requests but in general, they are all pretty do-able ( last year Summer Bucket List). What I like to see happen, is some over lap. That does make things easier… as I really like to get as much crossed off as possible!
I decided to do a little researching on other family’s’ summer bucket list and came across the, thrifty north west mom, blog site. I absolutely loved her creative guest post from Sarah with Chickie Momma Crafts , about summer bucket lists. If my kids were younger I would have been all over her suggestions – the bright pink bucket for the lists, and her free download of the Summer Bucket List Activity Worksheet. Definitely check out their sites to learn some more great creative craft ideas.
Creating the vision, then writing it down is so powerful and healthy to the psyche. It is important to voice your vision and goals and then find ways to make them happen – it is empowering for kids to see the start and finish of family goals. We had a lot on our summer bucket list this year ( not much overlap!) and here is a short version of our list ( I have crossed off the ones we have already done).
- Swimming with the dolphins
- Green sand beach
- Vanilla farm
- Go see Harry Potter
- Summer drama camp ( Pearl)
- Get chickens
- Make a chicken coop
- Horse camp
- Go camping
- Go to the beach, snorkel and paddle board. We still do this all the time!
Wow, I am surprised that we have done so many things! At the end of the summer, the family will gather around and go over some our summer highlights ( you can see our last years highlights here) which is really fun.
