The Elementary Human Body Detectives has grown into offering middle and high school courses!
Middle and high school are notorious for being tough times for kids to listen to their parents ( sociocultural influences generate much pressure!!) about nourishing their bodies through nutrition and lifestyle.
HOWEVER, they are curious, and pre-teens and teens want to feel good. And intervention from an outside source that provides peer-to-peer learning with an expert, a safe place to create discussion and ask questions, is what Human Body Detectives has designed for this age group.
Did you know…
- Many children and adolescents have a micronutrient-deficient diet
- Nutritional concerns during adolescence are real!
- A study of adolescents age 13-18 found that about one in 60 teens has symptoms of an eating disorder in a single year.
- In 2015-16, 21% of adolescents age 12-19 were obese, and in 2017, 60% of high school girls and 34% of high school boys were trying to lose weight.
Pre-teens and teens want to learn more and feel better so they can do better. They tell me this! I have learned repeatedly that when people understand how their bodies work, they support and nourish it with much more awareness.
All HBD courses weave together physiology, nutrition, and lifestyle to empower teens and leave lasting positive lifestyle changes.
